As at July 2010 at the close of the HELP CETL

Award Holder Scheme

UPC is pleased to announce the continuation of the HELP CETL Award Holder Scheme for the 2010-11 academic year. The Award Holder Scheme was introduced in 2005 to recognise and reward the contributions of UPC lecturing and support staff to teaching and learning. Over the past five years 75 lecturing and support staff from across UPC have received funding to undertake Continued Professional Development (CPD) and/or scholarly activity and research. UPC would like to encourage lecturing and support staff from throughout the network to apply for an Award and become a part of a growing network of HE in FE practitioners engaging in scholarly activity and research.

UPC employs a two-stage applications procedure for the Award Holder Scheme:

Stage 1: Expression of Interest
In the first instance you need to complete an Expression of Interest Form as this will enable the UPC to offer you targeted support, in association with your SFC to develop your application. The Expression of Interest Form should be submitted to UPC by 9 am on the 12th March 2010.

Stage 2: Complete a full application
Once you have completed an Expression of Interest Form and spoken to the Becky Turner / your Subject Forum Chair (SFC) you need to complete the relevant application for the Award you want to put in for. All the application forms can be downloaded below. Please see the guidance notes associated with the Award you want to apply for and view the PowerPoint presentation related to the 2010-11 Award Holder Scheme, as these will provide you with key information that will inform your application. Applications should be submitted to rebecca.turner@plymouth.ac.uk by 9 am on the 23rd April 2010.

If you have a Registered University Teacher (RUT) account, please follow the link below to the staff portal where you can find all the materials you will require to make your application.

Following the completion of their Awards, some Award Holders expressed a desire to write for a publication with a view to sharing their research with a wider audience. A writing group was set up for the community and resulted in the publication of 'Putting an I into Identity and Other Stories'. More information can be seen on the writing group pages of the website.
